It’s the middle of the night and the day of your exam is tomorrow, you studied so hard and we are proud of you! you need to take your rest in able to do well for the next day, but you can’t seem to shake off the feeling of anxiety. Here are ways to unwind yourself the night before your exams.

1. Listen to music: changing the aura for your environment can help you ease your anxieties, and playing music is just the way to help you do so! Music helps with activating your brain to release hormones to relieve your stresses, but it also comes with a lot more benefits. Soft acoustic background music while preparing to sleep may help you feel calm. If that is not for you, maybe Pop or rock music to keep you confident may do the trick. We made a playlist to share what keeps us at ease at night, if you are interested check out our Spotify.

2. Exercise, Yoga, Meditation: Moving your body may help you release all that worries. Achieving something can make you feel confident with yourself. Even just 5 minutes of working out can improve your state of mind. If you think that meditating is best for you, try an app called Sanvello that is free to install and use. Their meditation tool helped me with focusing on the positive things and keeping calm.

3. Drinking tea: Tea is contained with theanine which activates calming chemicals in your brain. Drinking one cup of tea with a cookie or two can help you feel relaxed. However, different kinds of teas bring different benefits and effect some can be good for your change of mood while some could be also used for healing. Tea that could help you relax are those who have calming effects like chamomile, lavender, and peppermint teas.

4. Having a warm bath: Taking a nice warm bath can help you lose tense muscles By improving your blood circulation and the body increasing its temperature. When the warm water comes in contact with your skin, the soothing effect lets us release chemicals called endorphins that are responsible for relieving stresses. Plus, this will be a way for you to indulge in the little things to reward yourself for the hard work.

5. Do something fun: This is depending on what you see as a fun thing to do. For myself, I opened up Netflix and watched an episode or two of a new k-drama. Doing this helped with changing the scenery of the mind to focus on something else rather than what I was stressing about. You can pick any movie or series of your choice. I used to do a short distance of walking with my dog during the night, just to feel the breeze. If you want to do something more productive but requiring to be indoors, baking a dozen of easy cookies can be your type of thing. An adventure in the kitchen wouldn’t hurt, and you might even have a good breakfast for tomorrow if you will. Maybe a good snack after your exam, perhaps?

6. Talking to a friend: this is also a fun thing to do. Talking about the latest gossips and complaining can help you with stress relief and change of mood. Having a few laughs about memories, news, and the stupid things you just did, can help with activating your brain to produce happy hormones. Talking about your studies can help you as well but it can also contribute to remembering them for your exams. Talking about freeing two birds with one key.

Tips on how to have more effective studying

You studied so hard however, you are still aren’t confident in yourself, or no matter how hard you tried, you just can’t get a grasp of it. Try organizing your notes again. We know that these may seem too long and tiring but this is very effective in my experience. Using doddle arrows and highlighters can also push you to be positive towards learning, just like coloring, and when you are happy with what your learning the more you can understand and remember.

If you’re panicking due to a lot of subjects you have, use a planner and put the easiest subject for you at first, to ease your brain into learning. I recommend studying 3 days ahead before an exam to minimize the stress your brain and body are receiving. Do not forget to eat something and keep yourself hydrated at all times.

We hope that sharing our ways to unwind the night before an exam helped you aced that test you can tweak a few or combine any of these ways, it’s up to you. And we are looking forward to your great result. If you didn’t get what you desired, we are still proud of everything that you did. Remember to not be too hard on yourself because there is always a way for you to improve yourself.
